No fluff. No bs. Let's get straight to the point.
You want to feel good, right?
You don't WANT to lose your $*#&, be frustrated, resentful or down. It gets annoying after a while and you then are annoyed at yourself AS WELL as the original culprit!
I'm sharing one SIMPLE tweak to help you feel better, more aligned and to remind you that you've got this. And by this, I mean life, tantrums, mess, exhaustion, people-pleasing, hard days and the rest! π€
But first, I want to shout you out. Life IS a hard game to play so here's sending you a big, virtual pat-on-the-back-glass-of-bubbly-you're-amazing offering. Seriously, what you're going through is no easy feat, so let that sink in.
And now, onward π
Have you seen the clip of Bart Simpson electrifying himself repeatedly because he wants a cupcake? I like to humorously remind myself of this when I keep doing something that's not working for me. And to remind you of it too! LIke the other morning in bed, my mind started racing and I could feel the all-too-common emotion of frustration coursing through me. When it happens, I feel like Bart reaching for the cupcake, like I'm doing the same thing and expecting a different result. So up I leapt and within 5 minutes, I was in my joggers and active wear, walking through the darkened streets of my suburb. I recorded a podcast for the members of EMPOWERED and - woo hoo - before I knew it, my frustration was gone. I was feeling good.
There's a few facts we know about life:
- children are going to tantrum
- we're going to feel tired
- some days are going to be harder than others
- people are going to annoy us.
(I'm sure you can think of a zillion others)
What if you decided to NOT let these things take you out of your lane, and instead, had a plan in place for when they happen?
Imagine who and how you'd be with your friends and family, how purposeful and present you'd be with your to-do list and how much HAPPIER you'd feel!
That's why I walked and recorded my pod: by getting out of the house, moving my body AND by serving others, I was able to snap out of my frustration. These ideas were already in my empowered tool belt because I've spent years doing what I'm sharing with you.
This is the SIMPLE TWEAK to take you from Ugh to under control:
1. Agree you're going to feel or experience things you'd really rather not, 'cause seriously, why do we keep letting the same old life issues ruin our days? It's not rocket science that life isn't a daily rotation of roses and butterflies, yet we let these day-to-day challenges derail us. Next to step two.
2. Decide these challenging-all-too-common events don't have to equal a bad day. Yep, you CAN choose that!
3. Summon your personal empowerment, enthusiasm & leadership skills ('cause y'all know I think every mum's a leader π«΅) and have fun creating ways you can CHEER YOURSELF UP WHEN NEEDED.
Grab a pen - or your child's crayons - and brainstorm all the things you could do to improve your mood. Preparing yourself with ideas of how to lift your mood is your one SIMPLE tweak.
I'll give you a few to start you off, but come up with your own too:
- put your feet in the grass
- play your fave music
- colour-in/paint/draw
- eat something special!
- stop & sit
- call a friend
- volunteer (or do you need to stop volunteering???)
- light a candle
- drive to nature: the bush, lake, ocean, a gorgeous garden or an oval. Nature helps!
Ok, your turn. What's 10 do-able things for when you feel your frustrations rising or your mood dropping? Being prepared for life is literally LIFE CHANGING and - bonus - it's not just you who'll benefit. Your children will too.
They'll feel and see you in your best light more often than not, AND they'll unconsciously model your resilience, coping strategies, happiness, calm and focus. Cheers to that π₯
If you want to hear more about prepping for life, I invite you to join EMPOWERED, my online life coaching membership for mums. It has a member only podcast and in last week's episode, I shared a real-time example of how I use 'preparedness' to create a life I dream of. Or, as a gift from me, download this FREE WORKSHEET
Stay amazing,
Catherine
